Our History

At Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, we've come a long way.

Established with a rich history dating back several decades, Cornerstone Pentecostal Church in Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories was initially established as a vibrant hub of faith, love, and community. Over the years, families have grown, friendships have formed and flourished, and lives have been transformed by the power of faith within our walls. The church has been an integral part of the Yellowknife and surrounding community, sharing the Good News of God’s love through worship, service, and love.

One Big Family

Our warm and welcoming family prioritizes embracing new members, fostering kindness, and demonstrating unwavering faithfulness to God. Sharing stories and inspiring testimonies, we inspire each other as we connect on our spiritual journey. We love celebrating milestones and creating a supportive and uplifting environment for all.

“A new beginning”

To be made whole, or to be saved, is to submit to God and His plan and purpose for our lives. It is a turning from our old ways and turning to Jesus, to ask Him for forgiveness from our sins and to give us new life in Him.

Pastor

Gideon's early life was shaped by a Christian upbringing in Ghana, where his parents were actively involved in church ministry. Immersed in values of community care, church planting, and strong biblical training, Gideon accepted Christ during high school and later engaged in various roles within the Pentecost Students and Associates during university. His leadership skills in evangelism, church planting, and pastoral care developed through informal training within his local church and Christian affiliations. In 1998, Gideon moved to Canada, where he continued his commitment to church activities, playing key roles within the Church of Pentecost in Toronto. In 2010, prompted by the Holy Spirit, he and his wife established a new branch in Regina, Saskatchewan, which grew into a district church with around 100 members. Upon returning to Ontario, Gideon led the Church's Area Evangelism Ministry for over 5 years, overseeing multiple districts. Despite lacking a theology degree, Gideon is answering the call to serve as Cornerstone's Interim Pastor, collaborating with the board to fulfill pastoral responsibilities until a permanent replacement is found. He brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to God's mandate for the church. Gideon looks forward to working with the congregation and the board to continue the church's mission
